Haunted by a fatal past mistake, twenty-three-year-old Aera Wright escapes reality through online gaming. But when a local girl vanishes wearing a custom costume identical to Aera’s gaming avatar, her dormant obsession with sleuthing reignites.
As police begin their search, a thoughtful stranger named Barrett enters Aera’s life and joins her pursuit of a killer tied to an obscure comic book figure named Red Monarc. But who is truly hiding behind the mask? And is the gruesome death of a previous victim drawn from the pages of the books themselves?
When a devastating family secret plunges Aera into a maze of lies and deception, she realizes no one in her life is who they claim to be. With more victims disappearing, she and Barrett must unmask a monster before another mistake leads to tragedy.
